The One Year Project – and “One Year Wednesdays”

One Year to an Organized Life

I am in the process of reading One Year to an Organized Life: From Your Closets to Your Finances, the Week-by-Week Guide to Getting Completely Organized For Good by Regina Leeds, the famous “Zen Organizer”.

This book walks through the basic fundamentals of organizing – without overwhelming the reader.  Each month focuses on a different project (from kitchens and bathrooms to business life and finances). Regina teaches the us the importance of an organizational journal, time management and routines in an effort to simplify our lives. I will be starting my “One Year Project” with September – and I will share my journey with you.  Watch for my posts titled “One Year Wednesdays”. Want to get organized with me, one week at a time?

green clean party

July 5th, 2010

In yesterday’s Tennessean, there was an article titled “Green clean parties are recipe for success”.  My dear friend has been making her own cleaners for years, and since we met ten years ago, I have slowly changed to safer and natural products. I also used products from ecover, method, and shaklee. I still have some conventional strays that have been pulling at my “green” shirt sleeves.

I have decided to host a “Green Party”!  What a great way to gather my friends for a girls night.  A little girl time, great conversation, some measuring and  pouring, and we will leave with safe cleaners for our home!  (Plus they are cheaper than store bought cleaners. Who does not love to save money in these tough times.) Women’s Voices for the Earth (WVE) offers a free download kit with instructions and recipes for your party.

I’ll be sure to post an update after the party. (And to my friends, watch for the invite soon!) How about you – would consider the switch to (homemade) green & safe cleaning products?

thinking outside the box

May 28th, 2010

I am a big fan of DillyDally and Flitter.  Michelle is so very creative and inspiring!  She literally is using the inserts from a box of bottles to help organize her famous “Dangle Bangles”.

Check out the latest post.  My green heart loves that she is reusing before recyling.

I reuse my sonic drink carriers in similar ways.  I find them perfect for storing sunscreen & diaper items.

How do you reuse items around your home?
